From Fries on Burgers to Vegas Vows: The Unlikely Love Story of Isaiah and Kennedy

With the premise being set in the previous book, the prologue delivers big-time! We finally get the tea on how Kennedy and Isaiah first met, and oh boy, it’s a full-blown meet-cute. Isaiah stepping in to comfort Kennedy and hyping her up to do what’s best for her career? Chef’s kiss. And then, when asked who she is, he casually drops, “That’s my future wife.” Excuse me, sir, but that’s some A+ foreshadowing.

Fast forward to the present—back to where we left off in the last book—Kennedy is still in her I hate Isaiah phase, while he’s busy shamelessly flirting with her every chance he gets. Their banter is absolutely delicious, and it builds up perfectly as they head to Vegas.

Then we get to the moment. Isaiah somehow talks Kennedy into having a drink with him, and what does this man do? Takes off her shoes (because, priorities), buys her new ones to keep her comfy, and makes sure he doesn’t mess up his one shot with her. They drink. They laugh. And, of course, they drunkenly get married in Vegas.

Oh, and Isaiah’s backstory? Heartbreaking yet endearing. He’s terrified of storms because of a traumatic incident with his mom, and he makes a point of checking in on everyone he cares about when the weather gets rough. Kennedy steps up too—there’s a scene where she literally runs eight blocks just to be with him during a storm. Like, yes, girl, show us what love looks like!

And then there’s the iconic “MY WIFE” energy. Like Yes, sir, I would like one of those, and it was SERVED! Isaiah just gets Kennedy—he makes her feel secure and loved without tiptoeing around her, which is 100% the vibe we all need. And don’t even get me started on the jealousy—both of them catching feelings and getting possessive at different moments is pure gold.

Now, the domestic stuff? Ugh, it’s what dreams are made of. Not over-the-top, just simple, natural, and oh-so-perfect. Like, she puts fries on her burgers (the only correct way to eat a burger, btw), and this man notices it, remembers it, and then makes her a burger with fries on it later. WHO IS DOING IT LIKE HIM?! 🥹

Also, their little “hi’s” to each other? Absolute cuteness overload. Their confessions? Literal swoon material. The whole thing is just… adorable.
