It's 2008, you have switched on your TV, channel Star One. You can't wait for your favourite show to start. Though you understood nothing as a 8 year old kid you still want to see what happens with Samrat, Mayank, Gunjan and Nupur in the show.
Yes! I'm talking about the hit show "Miley Jab Hum Tum" that aired from 2008 to 2010 on Star One. This was the only show apart from "Dil Mil Gaye" that had two seasons, according to IMDb.

The show got famous since it was one of a kind during that time which revolved around the lives of four college students, Mayank, Nupur, Samrat and Gunjan. Mayank Sharma was played by Arjun Bijlani, Samrat Shergill was played by Mohit Seghal, Nupur Bhushan Sharma (nèe Bhushan) was played by Rati Pandey and Gunjan Bhushan was played by Sanaya Irani. The other characters included Dia Bhushan played by Navina Bole, Uday Bhushan played by Jaskaran Gandhi, Benji or Benjamin Swami played by Abhishek Sharma, Shilpa Sharma played by Vaishnavi Mahant and many more.
The story starts with two sisters, Gunjan and Nupur, from a village called Morena come to Mumbai to study in college and start living with their cousins Dia and Uday. Dia despises them and plays pranks on them with her friends, Uday, Samrat, Benji, Annie and other on their first day of college. This leads Nupur to meet Mayank, the college topper. Mayank saves Nupur when she is stuck in the Men's washroom due to the pranks of Dia and her friends. Samrat dresses up as a boy named 'Bhavesh' in order to prank Gunjan. Later, Gunjan finds out that Bhavesh is none other than the college stud 'Samrat', which results in her getting angry and running away upset.
As the story progresses, Gunjan and Nupur get used to living in a city like Mumbai and dealing with the college troubles. Samrat befriends Gunjan while Mayank and Nupur continue to fight like kids for a long time, till Mayank realises he is starting to have feelings for Nupur. On the other hand, Gunjan falls in love with Samrat, while he considers her to be his best friend.
Further, Mayank and Nupur get married and Samrat and Gunjan are engaged. I'll refrain from giving too many spoilers at the moment and leave you guys to watch the show as the story unfolds. The show is available to watch on Disney+Hotstar. (I've linked the show)
Miley Jab Hum Tum, is a really sweet story about college life and relationships that are formed during those years. It's a show that every kid, during the airing time has seen without fail. If not the whole show, everyone has watched at least a few episodes.
My favourite couple as a kid were Samrat and Gunjan, but now that I've rewatched the show as a 21 year old, I definitely like Mayank and Nupur more! Mayank and Nupur's chemistry is so amazing to watch. They literally own the enemies-friends-lovers trope perfectly in a very 2008 manner.
There are so many shows in today's time that will be better than Miley Jab Hum Tum but it has it's own charm. Now let's talk about Mayank and Nupur for a second here; (SPOILERS AHEAD)

When they met for the first time Mayank saved her, then they became project partners, then competed during the exams, then were sent together for an inter-college competition, then they got lost in a jungle, got stuck at a shady place, then a village then when they finally reached the place of the competition Mayank started getting jealous and irritated of the fact that he was developing a crush on Nupur and when they returned Mayank started avoiding her to get rid of his feelings until he realised he was in love with Nupur. This led to him believing there's a high chance she might feel the same too. The gang participated in a drama of their college in which Mayank used his character to find out whether or not Nupur might feel the same, until they confessed their feelings for each other on stage. Their story is filled with a lot of movie references, example;
They get stuck at a shady place is full Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor's Jab We Met vibes.
The whole build up of whether or not Nupur loves Mayank and their confession is full Dil Toh Pagal Hai vibes.
Mayank going to Morena to win Nupur back and the whole track of them getting married is full DDLJ vibes.
But their whole vibe about them being a couple is just so wholesome, there a certain moments which you can't help but swoon or cry or laugh at the simplicity or it's insanity at.
Their little arguments or as the show calls it nok-jhok is really funny and you can't help but laugh or form a little smile at the least.
Now about Samrat and Gunjan;
Samrat is the college stud and a flirt but with a good heart whereas Gunjan is a soft spoken girl who is an introvert and has a hard time around in the college. What starts as a bet from Dia to Samrat about making Gunjan participating in a talent competition manages to convince Gunjan that Samrat has good intentions and Samrat and Gunjan end up being best friends. Gunjan slowly develops feelings for Samrat whereas he is unaware and continues to consider Gunjan as his best friend. Later when revealed that Gunjan is in love with him Samrat starts to think about how he might be in love with her too!
Their story is polar opposite story from Mayank and Nupur. Samrat and Gunjan could be the owning the popular boy and shy girl fall in love or the best friends in love trope quite perfectly.
Samrat and Gunjan moments are full of sweetness because of Gunjan being this quite girl and Smarat bringing the best in her while she makes him a better person.
The story does get a bit predictable but it is fun to watch. It also does get a bit insane as to having to spend a night in a college classroom or Mayank and Nupur staying in college or as if we go to see they are in college first year or maybe second year which means their age would be around 18-20 years old, how are 20 year olds allowed to get married! and then work in the college as a professor and be married to a student! or having Nupur's delivery done in a non functioning college!
Apart from all this insanity the show definitely deserves at least one watch before anyone decides whether they like it or not.
So my review will definitely be that this show is a MUST WATCH!!!!
The first time I rewatched this show in July 2021, I just watched Nupur and Mayank scenes, I am rewatching the whole show currently without skipping the scenes this time.
